Park in the lot behind the Girard HS football stadium. (From downtown Girard, head east on Liberty Street, R on Elruth, past the stop sign, the lot is on the right.) We‘ll try for between 3 and 4 miles. The route will be a mixture of paved, and wooded trail, some small climbs. Wear footwear appropriate for the weather and surface changes. Lunch at El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant on Belmont Avenue if you desire.

Cherry Pie Hikes Commemorating George Washington’s 294th Birthday Saturday, February 21, 2026 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM Jennings Environmental Education Center Junction of Routes 8 and 528 These hikes are part of an event that combines the annual "Cherry Pie Hike" and "Washington‘s Trail Hike." It commemorates George Washington‘s birthday and the Virginia Colony mission demanding French withdrawal from British territory that precipitated the French and Indian/Seven Years War. The day-long event will begin at 9:00AM and end at 2:00PM and will include informational presentations and displays, including reenactors with clothing and equipment of the time period. Participants can choose one or more favorite hike option and enjoy a taste of cherry pie, courtesy of North Country Brewing Company. • Select one of six 30-minute history hikes o 9:30AM, 10:00AM, 10:30AM 11:30AM, Noon, or 12:30PM o The 30-minute history hikes explain Washington’s 1753 mission and let visitors witness the musket shot that almost killed Washington at age 21. • Or one of two 60-minute nature walks o 9:00AM & 11:00AM o Winter Nature Walks are led by Jennings’ staff and will take you on a 60-minute stroll to see the park habitat in winter. • Or the 7-mile-long hike o 9:00AM o North Country Trail hike lasts from 9:00 AM until approximately 1:00 PM, (depending on hiking speed). This long hike will cover 7 miles from the boat launch located under the Route 528 bridge in Moraine State Park to Jennings o Recommended for ages 12 and up, the hike is rated “moderate,” and will traverse varied terrain, with some slopes and winter trail conditions. o *NOT suited for tennis shoes. o Participants should park and meet under the 528 bridge to begin the hike. They may hike back or return via shuttle. Reserve your hiking spot early at events.dcnr.pa.gov - search “cherry pie” to select your hike. Reservations are required for hikes and nature walks by February 19. Call 724-290-2129.

Spring in Columbiana County -- SICCO (pronounced Sick-O) stands for Spring in Columbiana County, Ohio. This ride began in 1995 and is a favorite for area cyclists to welcome in spring. Three routes of 28, 34, and 31 miles loop through small towns and beautiful countryside including the Little Beaver Creek Greenway Trail. There is a snack stop at the rail station in historic downtown Lisbon.

This year, we‘re introducing something special! A Chili Cook-off at the Mirror Lake Pavilion starting point awaits returning riders.

SICCO begins at Firestone Park (347 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, OH 44408) at the Mirror Lake Pavilion. Registration opens at 8:00am and closes at 10:00am. First riders out at 8:00am. SAG ends at 3:00pm. Contact Ed Christian at 412-389-0895, echris333@aol.com for additional information.

Out-Spokin‘ Wheelmen’s 52nd Northeast Ohio (Cookie) Century. NEOC is famous for its “endless cookie table" and Great Routes. Routes: Choose 10, 25, or (2) 50-mile routes, to complete a century. Terrain is mostly flat through Trumbull County. SAG: available until 5:00 for mechanical breakdowns and other assistance. Fee after 9/19 is $35.00
